What is an AI automation? It is a workflow that starts from an event (an incoming email, an uploaded file, a set time) and carries out a series of steps on its own: it reads the data, processes it, enters it into the right programs and notifies the right people. Artificial intelligence steps in where a text needs to be understood, such as classifying a request or extracting data from a PDF.

n8n is an open-source automation platform that connects to hundreds of services (email, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, databases, e-commerce, APIs) and can be installed on the company's servers. Compared with cloud-only automation services, that means more control over your data and no per-operation costs.
When a step requires understanding a text or document, we connect n8n to an artificial intelligence model: in the cloud for non-sensitive data, or locally to keep everything in-house.
